Hogfields is expanding this year with a new small shed to store the food, newspaper and towels in, so creating space for extra pens in the main hoggie shed to accept more casualties.
Hedgehogs are still around because of the mild winter that we are experiencing. Consiquently there has been no break this year and hedgehogs have been coming in just as much as in the summer because they have not hibernated.
We need your help with donations of food, newspaper and bedding. We also collect used POSTAGE STAMPS to send to the Hedgehog Preservation Society to raise funds to Hedgehog awareness.Just send them to our address. Thank you.

***APRIL NEWS***
Spring is here and already I have seen activity in my garden so check your out. Please leave food and water for them as they come out of hibernation. Soon they will be mating too so look out for abandoned babies come May and June.

------------------------------
If you find a hedgehog in the daytime it is not 'sunbathing'. It needs rescuing. Hedgehogs should not be out in the daytime. If they are then there is something wrong. Please call me.

Make your garden hedgehog friendly.
For further information please look on the British hedgehog Preservation Society Web site. I am a registered carer with them and they can assist you with help to look after your nightly visitors

We are situated in Great Barr, Birmingham in the West Midlands, on the cusp of the Barr Beacon country side.
We are a small, self funded, family run team dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of hedgehogs.

It all began with the many hedgehogs visiting our garden which we named and fed throughout the summer of 2010. We developed an affection for our visitors.
In September 2010 I received a call from my son's school. They had found a hedgehog out in the day and my son had mentioned, "My mom likes hedgehogs. She will know what to do."
At first I didn't. I called the Hedgehog Preservation Society and was given the name of a local rescuer. I took the hedgehog to her, saw her set up and decided "I could do this" and after her help and advice returned home and began looking after the hedgehog myself.
We called him Kevin. (after the character in the Home Alone films) He was, after all a juvenile left alone and in need of help. Kevin ate us out of house and home and was released, fat and healthy in October and after that I registered as a carer. My first success !
And so it began...
